China is mad at Trump because he is violating every diplomatic agreement that had been made. While I agree that China’s Taiwan policy needs to be challenged, doing so this blatantly is dangerous. And sure enough, China is showing off its nuclear weapons. Again most people are going on with business as usual. As if nothing happened. (And clearly, Russia does not like China, so maybe Trump is acting on Russia’s behalf here?)
Maybe this is just another example of our human incapability of grasping certain threats. Getting fired from your job because you didn’t go to work to protest an insane future administration might be more understandable as the vague threat of a nuclear war.
If you don’t want to remain speechless, please join me in raising a ruckus. Call your Congresspeople and demand an investigation. Call the Department of Justice comment line (202-353-1555). If you are not in the United States, call your elected officials, too, and ask them to ensure that your elections cannot be tampered with. There are already indications that Russia is trying to interfere in the French and German elections. We need to be vigilant if we want to defend out democracies, as imperfect as they are.
