Regenerating Ourselves
I’ve written about regenerating ourselves before. This morning, I woke up tired and drained, not exactly a good way to start a day for reading the bulk of a book on environmental justice! Instead of doing what I usually do – push through the drained feeling and pretend as if I had tons of energy – I decided to stop. I had bought some scones last night for a different kind of breakfast. I brewed myself a cup of Earl Grey added some milk (something I usually don’t do) and just ate my breakfast. No reading while eating. Just sitting there, eating the scone, marveling at how well it goes with the milky tea. It was amazingly regenerative! After breakfast, I decided to sit some more, so I dug out my meditation bench and sat for 20 minutes. I let my thoughts fly around as they wanted to, not trying to change a thing. Just observing. Now I feel full of energy and restored! And all it took is to slow down a bit… Amazing how that works… 🙂
