In any rate, it looks like we have our work cut out to raise people’s awareness that simply using gender-neutral terms does not end patriarchy and that it’s not okay to demean women.

Yes, Rendell’s remark was astounding, but not as astounding as his response when people called him out on it, and he “apologized” in that backhanded way, saying that he himself has no life either. Oh, well, that makes it ok then. -CC
